Person First Forum Hosted by the Museum of disABILITY History Disability Rights Advocate Alec Frazier Presents: Nothing About Us without Us Saturday, March 29, 2014 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. 3826 Main Street, Buffalo FREE event! As part of the Person First Forum, a series by the Museum of disABILITY History, will focus on advocacy efforts and the acceptance of disabilities. Join Alec Frazier as he shares his experiences and perspective. Learn about: - What informs advocacy and self-advocacy. - University at Buffalo's only disability-run endeavor, the Diversity in Disability symposia. - Various reputable disability organizations, such as the AAPD, the VSA and NCIL. He has gotten two pieces of legislation passed, interned in Washington, D.C. and co- founded a prominent regional disability symposium. He also works for a number of agencies serving people with disabilities. He believes that the disability community should determine its own future and should have a key role in deciding its own public policy. Frazier has started to develop a new philosophy, Disability Realism, for people who wish to further the disability rights agenda while remaining in touch with today's culture and social practices. A native of Ithaca, New York, Frazier has a Bachelor's of Arts in Political Science from the University at Buffalo. A current resident of Buffalo, NY, he is enrolled in the Master's of Arts Disability Studies program at the University at Buffalo.
